Snow removal on Hwy 17

Where does Basswood Snow plow?

From the yard at 1413 Basswood Lake Road, Sowerby (Huron Shores, ON). Thirty-five minutes east and west on Hwy 17: Bruce Mines, Thessalon, Thessalon First Nation, Iron Bridge, and Blind River, plus a 20 minute radius north on Basswood Lake Road. When do you come out?

The season is November 1 to April 15. We plow lived-in homes once 5 cm has fallen and closed or unoccupied cottages once 8 to 10 cm has fallen. In a big storm we may plow while it is still snowing and come back to clean up once it stops. We aim to have you done about 2 hours after the snow stops. That is our target, not a guarantee.

How much is seasonal snow removal in Thessalon or Blind River?

Town driveways are posted before 13% HST: Single $725, Double $975, Circular $1,175, Triple $1,375. Salting, walks and ice melt are available upon request. A long lane is a rural quote, from $1,200.

How do rural and cottage quotes work?

Send the address on basswoodsnow.ca. We price the lane from the map and email your quote within 3 hours during the day. Nothing is due until you accept. Lived-in rural homes are cleared at 5 cm. Closed cottages are cleared once 8 to 10 cm has fallen.

How do I pay?

Pay by Interac e-Transfer to snow@basswoodsnow.ca, or by card. Card payments go through QuoteIQ and add a 2% processing fee. We do not take cheque or cash. Your driveway goes on the route once payment is in.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Once you book, we do not refund the season, and you cannot cancel partway through. Your rights under Ontario consumer protection law still apply. See Season terms below.

What about the driveway stakes?

We place stakes before the first snow. Please tell us about culverts, septic parts, gardens, rocks and anything else hidden under snow so we can mark it. The stakes stay ours. At the end of the season there is a $25 charge for each stake that is not returned, unless we damaged it.

Is there a contract?

Yes. After you book, we email you a quote from Basswood Inc. that you sign electronically. You get a signed copy for your records.
